Happy f**kin birthday!

Monday morning, after a good workout at the gym I am on route to work with good thoughts. I have started off well! Then I turn up at work and it’s someone’s birthday. I should be happy for them but I know my self control is going to be tested like mad. I walk into the staffroom and presented by Victoria sponge, cookies, brownies. Why?  why do these people think that is it okay to fatten me up just because they are a year older? If you like us that much get a fruit platter or just some money. Most of the time we don’t even know whose birthday it is before we grab that cake.

So ye I ate the cake, a brownie and a cookie with my tea. Thank you very much I now need to go back the gym on Tuesday.

Later that week, it was another birthday (happy birthday random person I never speak to). I started thinking of how I could avoid the the same situation and I did these things and it actually worked:

Stopped telling others that I was trying to cut done because they just say stuff like “You don’t need to cut down.”.. Or “Its just one, you’ll be fine!”… That’s not helpful

Go in the staffroom already eating something else like nuts.

Do what I need to do (normally make coffee) and get the hell out of there away from all that lovely food.

And this time it worked. Well done me. Let’s get ready for the struggle next time though!

The struggle is real!

All over the internet there are websites, blogs, articles and people giving us advice about how to be ‘healthier’ and how to be ‘super fit’. Apparently, it is super easy too! But, there is one thing that is holding us all back (well the vast majority) and it’s a life. Yes  I want to be super fit; I want to be the sexiest person on the beach. I would also like have a beer at my side and a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s in my hands. When I write super fit, what I really mean ripped and shredded and have a ridiculous six pack. Reluctantly I look at those people with admiration but then the logical side of my brain is telling me, they clearly don’t have much fun. They don’t know what a good bag of chips taste like or what it is like to be that drunk that you are sick through your nose (not that has ever happened to me).   This blog is going to be my journey to becoming ‘fit’, with all my trip ups, temptations and full out denials. The constant battle between fitness and food and all those things we love although we know we shouldn’t.

So, me…I’m Dale, a pretty normal 28 years old, although I have been told I look younger and  been going to the gym for about 2 years. I would say that I’m pretty healthy but I haven’t got that 6 pack yet. Pizza, donuts, chocolate and burgers are my biggest downfalls. This is going to be a good week though, I have already prepared my overnight oats, soaked in apple juice with orange and banana. The gym kit is waiting, so all I need to do is get up and go to the gym before work. Easy Peasy!
